SENIOR TOUR – WALKING ADVENTURES

Come explore Gros Morne National Park on a leisurely walking adventure with us. This adventure is geared toward the older generation but don’t let that fool you, we have a lot of guest that want to explore the park without all the hiking, that don’t want to complete all the strenuous hikes in the park but still want the most the park has to offer. That’s what this tours completes. We take in the beautiful Western Brook Pond Boat Tour, the awe inspiring tablelands to the colourful fishing communities that litter the shoreline of the park. Broom Point fishing Exhibit to growing our gardens on our organic farm. Lots to see and do without the hiking involved.

Itinerary

Day 1

  • Arrive to Deer Lake or Deer Lake Airport (YDF)
  • Met by your guide and transported to beautiful Gros Morne National Park
  • In the evening we have a welcome home cooked dinner with an array of fresh sea food from our boat and veggies from our organic garden. Newfoundland Music Introduction as well.

Day 2

  • Begin the morning with breakfast of fresh bread and jams, along with free range eggs from our garden.
  • Begin our journey to Norris Point where we board the water taxi to travel to the beautiful town of Woody Point
  • Our guide will meet you there and begin our journey to the Discovery Centre, one of the south side of the parks main attractions.
  • We then start our travels to Trout River. Take in a coastal walk along the coastline on the community boardwalk.
  • Picnic Lunch Oceanside
  • Travel to beautiful Trout River Fjord and then to the majestic Tablelands.
  • Board the Water Taxi and Travel back to the town of Norris Point.
  • Another beautifully prepared sea food feast for dinner

Day 3

  • Today we travel to Western Brook Pond. Today we being a 4km walk to the Western Brook Fjord.
  • Here we will board the West Brook 2 and travel the awe inspiring 700m glacial carved fjord.
  • Once we return we will have a beautiful picnic lunch and walk the moose yard in search of the illusive moose.
  • In the evening we take in the SS Ethie shipwreck and the travel to Cow Head for an Dinner Theatre based on the events that took place hosted by the Gros Morne Theatre Festival.

Day 4

  • Being the morning and travel to Rocky Harbour taking in the Lobster Cove Head Lighthouse and a few of the shorter walks around the shoreline in the area.
  • In the evening we travel back to Norris Point taking in the Marine Biology Station to get an idea of our marine life in the park. Here they have touch tanks to see the marine life up-close.

Day 5

  • Travel to beautiful town of Cow Head on the North end of the park and complete a small walk on the old mail road and broom Point Fishing Exhibit.
  • In the evening after our Picnic Lunch we travel to St Pauls to board our zodiac and travel beautiful St Pauls Bay. This place is full of wildlife. Seals which are seen on every trip litter the shallows on rocks taking in the summer sun and moose, caribou and black bear are frequently seen.

Day 6

  • Explore the coastlines of Sallys Cove and our farm before heading back to Deer Lake.
  • Flight times may vary for everyone on departure day and some may stay an extra day.
  • We will be sure to keep you busy and make your flight times work for us.
